Digital Product License
Buying an Underbrick STL gives you the right to use the file — not ownership of the design. Here is what that means in practice, in plain terms.
01What you get
When you purchase a digital product you receive a perpetual, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use that file for your own projects, on any number of machines you own or operate.
Underbrick keeps all ownership and intellectual property rights in the design. The licence covers use; it does not transfer the design to you.
02What you can do
- Print the file for yourself, as many times as you like.
- Print items as gifts for friends, family or customers you know personally.
- Modify the file — scale, remix, add your own parts — and print your version privately.
- Use it in your own prototypes, fixtures, jigs and workshop tools.
- Print small runs for an event, a classroom or a community workshop where no one is charged for the object.
03What you can't do
The default licence is personal. Without a separate commercial licence you may not:
- Sell, gift commercially or otherwise distribute printed copies as products.
- Upload, mirror or re-share the file — including on Printables, MakerWorld, Thangs, Cults, Thingiverse, Patreon, Discord, Dropbox or any group share.
- Bundle the file into another pack, marketplace listing or subscription.
- Offer the file or prints of it as a paid service, print-on-demand or 'files included' deal.
- Claim the design as your own or strip our attribution from the file metadata.
- Use it to make weapons, medical or safety-critical devices, or anything illegal.
04Commercial licences
A commercial licence lets you sell printed copies of a design under agreed conditions: which product, which territory, for how long, and at what volume. Some bundles are sold with commercial rights already included — the product page always says which licence applies, and that page is the contract.
Need one? Email hello@underbrick.com with the product and what you want to make of it.
05Files, formats and re-downloads
Files arrive by email as a download link that does not expire. We keep your purchase on record, so a lost link is resent whenever you ask.
Where a product includes several formats — STL, 3MF, STEP — you may use any of them for the same permitted purposes.
06Print quality and safety
Files are published as tested, but printing is in your hands: material, infill, orientation, tolerances and machine calibration change the result. We don't guarantee that a print will survive a particular load, temperature or environment.
You are responsible for how a printed part is used. Don't rely on a printed object for anything that could injure someone if it failed.
07Refunds on digital files
Digital products are not refundable once delivered or downloaded — see the Refund & Return Policy. If a file is broken, wrong or doesn't match the listing, we fix it, replace it, or refund that file if we can't.
08Changes to the licence
New purchases follow the licence shown on the product page at the time you buy. We won't worsen the licence on a file you've already bought.
